When Racism Takes Hold (Originally Published 9/9/2021)

Everyone’s racist in some sort of fashion.  Racism is defined by Wikipedia as the belief that groups of humans possess different behavioral traits .   .   .   and further be divided based on different levels of superiority of one race over another.  Racism may also mean prejudice, discrimination or antagonism directed against other people because they are of a different race or ethnicity.

I don’t know about you but I only eat at Italian restaurants owned by Italians.  Owners of party stores in my area are almost all Chaldean.  I have a belief that Chaldeans have unique DNA that gives them the drive to run party stores, 7-Elevens and the like.  Want a hard worker?  Hire someone with strong German ancestry.  Am I a racist?  You betcha, according to Wikipedia’s definition.  I believe that certain ethnic groups collectively have talents that not only I don’t have but neither do I have a desire to possess.

Here’s where racism becomes an issue: When your mindset about a race or ethnicity causes you to do or not do something that is polar to the life path that Soul is leading you on.

My son-in-law just married a lovely black lady.  I see him a changed man.  Thank God thoughts of racism did not take hold of him.

Another son-in-law married a white lady with a mixed colored daughter whom I adore.  Thank God my racism didn’t prevent me from loving her.

A buyer in a recent real estate deal I was working on backed out because her racist thoughts told her she would not be accepted as a black person operating a business in a white neighborhood.

Every member of the human race is by definition racist.  I guess the question is, what are you doing with it, not what past issues of racism are doing for you.  Racism is an integral part of the mind’s need to be better than someone else –- anyone else -- and has hunted mankind since the days of Adam and Eve.

I contend that racism is a programmed condition of the mind that provides the testing grounds for anyone and everyone who wants to rise up from limited thinking.

Gee, I think I’ll look for an Italian restaurant owned by a person of Polish descent as part of my quest to rise above ALL racist messaging I have received and stored.

Affirmation: I am free from the bondage of racist thoughts.
