When Humans Take Over God's Role (Originally Published 11/16/2022)


I was researching the time period of the Middle Ages (500-1500) for another blog when I came across a time period smack dab in the Middle Ages known as The Medieval Warm Period (MWP), also known as the Medieval Climate Optimum. Seriously? Climate issues in the year 1000?

 

The MWP (950-1250), as historical researchers have proven, experienced a noticeably warmer climate in many parts of the world, followed by a decline of temperature levels between 1500 and 1700, the coldest phase of weather since the Ice Age.

 

Hmmm, No coal mining? No fossil fuel production? No industry waste? And yet, the climate warmed? What the *$ #%&?

 

The MWP was primarily experienced mainly in Western Europe, Iceland and Greenland with substantial glacier retreat, of course, creating changing landscapes (flooding, shoreline changes, etc.) However, subsequent studies have shown that the MWP affected almost all parts of the world, South America, Asia and even Australia.

 

Can someone help me understand a certain political party's desperate push to change how the world travels and keeps itself warm? I, for one, believe that God's got this. Does the world need to think about alternative energy sources? Absolutely! Sooner or later, the oil of the planet will run out -- in God's perfect timing, of course -- if man doesn't evolve. Man is aware of this, and every energy producer on Earth is researching sustainable and renewable energy sources. The Sun and wind are free, renewable, and God's plan for the future. Using climate change, apparently, a natural and historically recurring event, to "control" the masses is despicable.

 

However, a lack of consciousness about wasting water, recycling trash and conserving Earth's beauty and resources is despicable also! Want to be a beacon of light in the midst of the natural rhythm of the planet that includes climate change? Recycle everything you can, EVEN IF it means you take your recyclable trash somewhere to be recycled. I also think it's despicable that cities have not "upped their game" to provide more recycling options. Ok. Soapbox be gone.

 

Perhaps someone should tell the purveyors of control of the “ruling class” to read about the Medieval Climate Optimum. Climate change is a natural rhythmic planetary occurrence. If the planet warms, it will cool. Looks like God has already provided solutions to Earth’s natural warming/cooling spectrum. Who knew? One interesting fact about the MWP is that the warmer weather allowed crop yields to increase, giving peasants (the workers of the land who paid rent to the nobles) more financial power for a while. ALWAYS and reasons for everything. God ALWAYS has a plan!

 

My Faith tells me that God’s ALWAYS in charge. Wisdom tells me it’s my job to preserve what I can of this beautiful planet we live on, and my Zeal tells me to be bold and write blogs that bring about conscious change both individually and collectively.
