The Yellow Brick Road (Originally Published 11/10/2022)

Recently I likened life in general to the life journey of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz’s yellow brick road journey. Each brick in the road being a life experience that must be met before the next step in life can be taken. I don’t know about you, but I could watch L. Frank Baum’s, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (original title of book published in 1939) movie anytime. I’m sure I’ve seen it at least 25 times.

Dorothy’s journey led her to have a heart, learn self-confidence and discover that everything she needed was already right under her nose. Although the movie did not come out and say it, the theme of The Wizard of Oz was clearly the message that Soul is always broadcasting live in now moments and realize everything you need is already in your midst.

The experience of “now” moments stop the world from spinning for a nano second or two. Stopping in the moment to give thanks – for anything good (better yet not-so-good) propels one into a now moment. Being absolutely present when one is talking, and you are listening (that means not multitasking when you are listening) will also create a now moment event.

Everyone talks about how time passes so quickly.  Ha!  The same twenty-four hours passes every day.  The same 1,465 minutes each day present themselves and moves at the same, constant speed.  One of the things that appears to make time “fly” is a day without balance.  That is a day that does not include snippets of joy, some form of exercise, unexpressed loving acts or moments or feelings of a job well done, Self-gratitude. All of these events are designed to create “pauses in time” that will give balance to a day that appeared to have sped by. 

Racing to the promised land? Ignoring the yellow brick messages along the way? Lacking self-confidence? Remember this: You are a perfect child of God whose needs have been met before you even knew you had them. Rejoice and be glad for your life at this exact moment and be open to receive (an act upon) all the yellow brick road experiences (without judgement) that Soul is providing.

Dorothy did and look where it got her!
