Spiritual Dominion (Originally Published 4/27/2023)


It's hard to wrap one's arms around a concept whose results are typically unseen. Dominion over spirit? How can one have dominion over something unseen? The human being has dominion over gravity, yes? The power of love, also unseen, expresses through all mankind and, like gravity, cannot be suppressed by any outside force sans NASA scientists.

 

What is spiritual dominion? Dominion is defined to mean to rule over nature; mastery or sovereign authority over another. Spiritual dominion is to have mastery over one's own spirit.

The power to control one's thinking is the highest innate power man is blessed with. It's no secret that man's thoughts, especially expressed through Spoken words, will ultimately dictate man's outcome. I remember years ago, while traveling home from Hawaii, having clear, determined thoughts that in my old age, I simply must work in a tropical garden as I love the energy that      tropical plants possess   I'm not old yet, but I own two properties in the tropics, both of which I landscaped from the ground up. To me, the blessing of my being able to produce a couple of  tropical gardens is the proof in the pudding of mind thought power.

 

But my tropical garden reward is a physical manifestation of thought. What about the spiritual manifestation of thought? Can we really manifest spiritual rewards? What even is a spiritual reward? Spiritual rewards such as peace, calmness, love, joy, wisdom, imagination, zeal, order, and so many more are also the result of having spiritual dominion over one's thoughts and the words we speak.

 

The human being is wired from birth to receive every available blessing or spiritual reward. Think of spiritual rewards as software programs just waiting to be accessed. The access code is revealed to those who have disciplined themselves to take the high road against greed, untruth, hatred, judgmental thoughts that make one look better than the one they are judging, anger, jealousy, resentment, revenge – you get the picture. In fact, the high road IS the path to spiritual dominion.

 

The human being is actually a spirit-being-having-a-human-experience. As such, the option of taking the high road is presented to each and every being 24/7. Judgment about the driver in front of you. Gossip. Taking what isn't yours (office supplies at work, grapes off a stem at the grocery store, your neighbor's husband). Anger at the homeowner's association. Jealousy towards a skinny neighbor. Not helping someone in need. Hoarding your money. Lying. Sheesh. For me, this was everything all in one day!!!

 

Think I'm kidding? Stop and take a look. A really deep, fair-minded look into the anti-spiritual events the Universe tosses at you in an attempt to hone your spiritual dominion. The good news is, every day, in every way, each and every one of us carries "the potential by decision" to take the high road. Will you be able to take the high road every day? Probably not. But if one begins to understand the quest for spiritual dominion and sees their role in the spirit-being-having-a-human-experience, the reward is joy, peace, comfort, love and more. It might just be the tweak one needs to switch the mind tracks from human dominion to spiritual dominion.
