Student of One’s Own Pain

Pain comes in all shapes and sizes. Physical pain is my least favorite, as I have a low tolerance for it. I am still thanking God forty years later for being in labor only forty-five minutes with the birth of my son. Even splinters (which I am a frequent host to), cause me intolerable pain.
Physical pain is the most easily recognizable form of pain. Thankfully, I have had minimal experiences with physical pain in my lifetime. Other forms of pain, especially mental and emotional pain, not so much.
Mental pain is influenced by thought. Unfortunately, those charged with being students of their own mental pain can often suffer through mental challenges, unaware of the teaching value of this form of torment. Thoughts of darkness – mental pain. The judgement of others – mental pain. Self-deprecating thoughts – mental pain. Low self-esteem – mental pain.
My personal favorite? Emotional pain. Emotional pain encompasses the feeling part of a human's makeup. However, sadness and grief are most likely the biggest contributing factors to human emotional pain. Shame, anger (rage), panic and feelings of worthlessness can greatly contribute to one's emotional pain quotient as well. Those who express a lot of drama are usually "hung" by their hearts.
The good news is, learn the lesson, internalize the lesson (ask how these feelings of helplessness can contribute to my personal enlightenment), and the pain transforms into shards of light that burst like fireworks, lighting up the sky. Translation – the pain ceases, and instead, new pathways to better living open. One must be sure to listen for guidance. The "how", if brave enough to ask the ‘how’ question.
It is Creator Source's good pleasure to offer an emotional, mental and physical pain-free existence, but nothing comes free. At least, anything worth having does not come free. Transform the "pain that teaches" instead of ragging on about it for days, months, or even years within the privacy of your own life, and spiritual rewards will abound.
Did I mention that it is the spiritual rewards – love, joy, peace, harmony, abundance, and beauty, to name a few, that result in the achievement of leaning into and learning from mental, emotional, and physical lessons of which we are by nature, students?
Bring it on! I’m armed and ready.
AFFIRMATION: I embrace the human forms of pain I experience as the pathway to a richer life.
