Spidey

I recently saw a movie that took place in the poor sector of Mumbai, India. It flashed for three seconds a black widow spider that had no other purpose in the movie except perhaps to exacerbate the poor living conditions some Mumbaikars experience.
That same black widow spider made its own appearance in that night's dream, which is prompting this blog. As many of my readers know, I believe that Soul-guided messages come to us through animals, insects, birds and reptiles. And yes, each and every one of us has one or two personal totems – mine are the heron and the bumblebee. Consistent sightings (more than 1 in a 24-hour period) of the same critter should prompt a little curiosity as to the critter’s message.
The black widow spider features a red hourglass-shaped marking on its belly. Although it's poisonous, the black widow's venom is not fatal to humans. The black widow is not aggressively seeking to hurt anyone, but is equipped, if threatened, to venomously ward off predators. So here we have a non-killer critter whose mere presence suggests death. Is that what the screenwriter was trying to convey in the Mumbai movie?
If you put into a search engine, “metaphysical message of the black widow,” some key words that present are transformation, inner strength, growth through challenges and even trust through intuition. All standard-ish tallies for spiders. However, from both the movie and my dream, it was fear that was first elicited as my first reaction from the beginning of the movie from the spider visual Until today, I was truly unaware that the black widow’s bite was not lethal to humans.
Fear. How easily does one’s mind store fear? And what is fear? The web tells me fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by a belief that someone or something is likely to cause pain. An unpleasant emotion? You mean it’s a single unpleasant emotion that drives the spirit-being-having-a-human-experience away from fear’s spectral opposite: faith? An unpleasant emotion is all that separates one from the knowledge that “God’s Got This,” or “At this moment everything is perfect?”
Go figure?
AFFIRMATION: I am faith-filled that all happens exactly as it should.
