Enabling Innocence

Recently, we acquired new next-door neighbors. C and A replaced an upper-aged couple with no children with a beautiful three-year-old girl, whom we shall call Ellie.
Ellie is as pure as the driven snow. Curious, pleasant, and as far as I’m concerned, a God-send. What a difference to have a pure specimen of the great Divine to observe. Don’t get me wrong, we love our previous neighbors and have many special memories of our time with them. Ellie’s presence has brought to the forefront of my mind so many triggers of the past, ranging from my own young life to the parenting challenges I personally faced.
What stands out most is Ellie’s purity of thought…not a care in the world. She hasn’t experienced any life challenges. Her parents are loving, dedicated and see to her every need while protecting her from the shadow aspects of the planet. Hmmm. I think I might be jealous. Not so much of Ellie per se, but jealous of Ellie’s innocence. I have no recollection of any innocent period in my life. Perhaps I’m not wired for innocence. Mom said I was ready to move out on my own by the time I turned twelve years old.
Might it be possible to experience Ellie's type of innocence at my stage of life? To see everything from a judgment-free perspective with joy as the only emotion of the moment? It's so different watching young people raise children on such an intimate level where their comings and goings, habits, visitors, and lifestyle are less than ten feet away. Their presence over the last year has caused so many memories to surface – bombarding me, actually – it is driving me to see the cycles of life more clearly. Is it even possible to return to innocence?
Yes, Ellie has no bills to pay, dinners to plan and cook, or even house repairs to make. Does life in general move one out of innocence? As we acquire things, do we trade off our innocence? The Cambridge Dictionary says, "innocence is the quality of not having much experience with life." Dictionary.com says innocence is freedom from sin or moral wrong. Webster's says innocence is an untainted purity of Heart. Join me in removing just one inner thought today that is antagonistic to the purity of Heart. Together, we can change the world and help the collective return, even in a small way, to enabling the mind of innocence in us all.
AFFIRMATION: I am a living flame of the eternal Mother, where innocence is enabled for all who walk our planet.
