Detours

On our annual hiatus journey south for the winter, we experienced two major road detours.  The first was not far from where we live so we had familiarity with the roads.  Plus, the signage was fabulous. That road hurdle was easy.  The second major detour hurdle came when in southern Ohio.  The sign telling of the detour came about 6 seconds before the expressway ended.  There were zero directional signs to give guidance.  Thankfully, the map program helped but we were tired, and the area was scarry.  Of course, then there’s me telling my husband which way to turn and swing around.  We never have a successful outcome when I’m telling him where to go (ha, ha).

Got me to thinking about the reality shows that I tune into occasionally on TV.  It’s always about overcoming the wrenches or detours the shows producers throw in to create tension.  Tension has a way of bringing out the worst in people ---- greed, jealousy, lying, cheating, betrayal, abandonment.   Said another way, Detours = Tension = Bad Human Behavior.  Hmmm. Is there hope or is the spirit-being-having-a-human experience destined to be stuck in a detour’s continuum?

I can rarely recall a day without a detour.  Misplaced keys.  Forgot my phone.  Three important calls come in at one time.  Covid symptoms.  Sick children.  Overdrawn checkbook due to addition error.  Lions escaping from the Zoo.  Ok, that one may be a little extreme, but I think you get the picture.  Our first detour was easy, we were in familiar territory.  The second . . .  not so much.  The two type A personalities in the car, (I was one), did not pass the detour test.  I guess they will keep coming until we pass.  Yes, the Universe provides detours as tools of learning.  I can’t fully explain how that is or why, I just know that Soul provides every opportunity for one to experience spiritual growth. 

When your next detour arrives, why not stop, and fill yourself with a light filled affirmation designed to whisk you OUT of the detour and into the perfect solution.  For me, I trust I am led to the Divine answer is my new mantra.  Develop a mantra suitable for whatever detours the Universe is bringing your way and watch the detour turn into delightful experiences.

It really is that simple.
