A Balcony Seat

I’ve never personally liked sitting in the balcony at entertainment venues. It may be because my ADD brain is easily distracted. It could also be that I equate closer seats with wealth. Further, it could also be that my eyes need to be up close to catch every detail. The first excuse is neurological, the second excuse is egotistical, and the third excuse is optometrical. However, my view of front-row seating took a diametrical position when someone informed me that when purchasing seating tickets for a ballet or other performance where dancing is the main thrust of the action, balcony seating is the best to capture the full ideas and designs of the choreographers – in other words, the big picture.

The big picture! I wonder just how much of the truth of my life I miss because I'm too up close and personal. There's so much expanse between the balcony and the stage. Am I really getting the big picture of my life, my country's life, and our planet's life?

I'm always trying to take the high road in everything I do, in spite of my many shortcomings: I'm quick to trigger, bossy, and selfish. Would taking a balcony seat rather than a seat up front change that? I'm sure God's view is definitely from the balcony. I believe everything is perfectly ordered, so a balcony view of all things, God's view, is most likely the easiest path to eliminate some of my shortcomings.
