Tourmalines - Energizing

Updated: 5 days ago

The name tourmaline comes from the Sinhalese (Sri Lanka) word “turmali," meaning a gemstone with mixed colors. There are over ten different types of tourmalines but what isn't different is the basic elemental makeup of tourmalines. You could say that tourmaline is not a single mineral but is a group of several related minerals.

Tourmaline forms in very aesthetic slender crystals whose gemstone quality is highly valued by collectors. All tourmalines are piezoelectric, meaning that the crystal can convert mechanical energy into electric energy and vice-versa, depending on the stimulus or stress applied. In piezoelectric crystals (pure quartz is the most noted piezoelectrical crystal), the positive and negative charges in the crystal are naturally separated and symmetrically distributed throughout the crystal's structure (trigonal-energizing), making the tourmaline electrically neutral until a stress (battery, electrode etc.) is applied creating voltage causing the crystal to vibrate – movement. But tourmaline is also pyroelectric; same electrical activity but motivate by heat or pressure.

Crystal energy output is governed by six different factors. Mineral content is one of them. Tourmalines are extremely rich in minerals. There are six different combinations of chemicals (varied chemistry) a tourmaline can host in their striated construction some considered impurities that create the plethora of colors of tourmalines one sees today: combinations of oxygen, hydrogen, calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium, fluorine, iron, manganese, boron, lithium, aluminum, chromium, silicon and vanadium. Are available in various Tourmaline Crystals. Tourmaline’s mineral content makes tourmaline crystals extremely high in energetic output. Varying tourmaline “groups” are still being discovered.

Tourmaline’s properties make them useful to purify, cleanse and transform heavy or thick energy back to light. Their trigonal (energizing) crystal structure reacts differently according to another crystal factor, color. In general, tourmalines can balance the brain hemispheres, decongest the auric body, ignite, sedate or balance the immune system, spark yin-yang balance, of course, with intention setting that matches the crystal’s archetypal driver(s). Below is a buzzword or two for several tourmalines as it relates to their "Bluetooth" capabilities.

Black -- (schorl) breaks up energy blocks, neutralizes fear, anger and resentment, arthritis and lymphatic toxins.

Brown – (davite) roots energy to Earth, opens one to tolerance, skin and intestinal disorders.

Green – (uvite) works with the heart physically and emotionally as well as opens one to their creative mind, strengthens the nervous system.

Pink – attracts love energy, helps to heal emotional wounds, calms the immune system.

Red – (rubellite) helps one surrender to love, aids the circulatory system and vitalizes the physical body.

Watermelon -- balance one's material vs. spirit aspects, release of the past, encourage nerve regeneration.

Yellow – clear thinking for problem-solving, sparks courage and supports the digestive system, great for fatigue.

Using any crystal successfully requires a well-set intention, knowledge of the construction, color, planetary influence and mineral content of the crystal and, of course, muscle testing to concur that one's electromagnetic body agrees with the crystal's energetic output.
