To Know Thyself - Is To Heal Thyself

Updated: 5 days ago

I’m always amazed at how quick people are to turn the total care of their physical body over to someone else without taking any personal interest in the how’s and whys of what might be ailing them. I’m often asking people who have cancer, lupus, neurological issues like MS or Parkinson’s or even simple body malfunctions such as lactose intolerance, IBS, or acne if they know the cause or why of the disease. What foods should one avoid or eat with their ailment? Even more importantly, what minerals or elements is your body lacking or hosting in excess.

What is the aversion to learning about what one could eat, do or not do that would ensure a healing or the remission of a disease or affliction? Why is the population so unwilling to research and understand for themselves the many factors such as DNA, environment, emotional and mental trauma that are usually at the root of all mineral discontent of the body and thus physical dis-ease.

Don’t hear me bashing the medical profession. On the contrary, doctors, PA’s, hospitals, labs and the like are an integral part of the health-disease-health cycle. No one however is more qualified to understand one’s body mechanics; to listen to one’s own inner guide, the Soul, than the person hosting the dis-ease. Cultivating an awareness of one’s physical well-being is imperative. After all, we have only one body to get us from birth to death – a highly unique and individualized body unlike any other body on the planet. How could we expect any other being, regardless of their medical know-how, to fully provide all the answers to enjoy good health. Here’s an example of what I mean…

About a year ago, my beautiful, thick, healthy hair began falling out. Although in my 60’s where one could possibly expect that, I for one was not accepting age as an excuse for what threatened baldness to my “crown of glory”.

I began researching “what makes hair fall out”. Besides of course aging – another topic for another blog, I learned that heredity, pregnancy, autoimmune disease, stress, abnormal thyroid, medications and hormone changes could all cause hair loss. While further researching hair loss in women, I was sure that none of the above causes identified my hair loss. I’ll admit, I learned more about hair follicles than could ever be asked if I were a contestant on Jeopardy. Did you know that each hair follicle (a hair strand’s host) goes through a three stage life cycle that can last from two to seven years?

So what was triggering my hair loss?

Hidden away in some medical website I learned that the condition of the kidneys is expressed in the condition of ones head and body hair. Aha! Perhaps my kidneys are over or under stimulated.

Kidneys (most bodies have 2 kidneys) are said to be the true power center of the body because the body’s chi – energy – is stored in the kidneys. The kidneys, besides filtering waste from blood also regulates the body’s acid/alkaline balance (pH) and play a key role in cardiovascular stability as the kidneys ensure that one’s fluid intake is matched to the amount of  fluid expulsion keeping excess fluid off the heart. I’m starting to see perhaps my kidneys could be the cause of the hair loss. Hmmm. Still looking for more clues to confirm this.

Since 2013, I’ve been experiencing tinnitus – a ringing in the ears. Kidneys are considered to be one of the vital organs responsible for tinnitus as the ears and kidneys have a close internal relationship. When the kidneys are not energy balanced – too much or too little energy – usually from excess or not enough of certain minerals, the ears cannot receive an adequate blood supply. Tinnitus is the body’s alarm advising that the kidneys may be more fragile than one thinks. I live with tinnitus as western medicine offers limited options for the treatment of tinnitus.

So far I’m learning that kidneys could be the cause of hair loss AND my kidneys are sounding alarm bells. By now, I have three hours into this research. I love my hair. However long this research takes, I must continue. What are my kidneys messaging me?

In writing The New Stone Age, Crystal Data for the 21st Century, I learned that the body’s operating systems, directors of the body’s organs are responsible for the bodily organs to be balanced, overactive or underactive. Since most of my physical issues reside in the skin (a touch of psoriasis here, a spot of rosacea there, an occasional basal cell anywhere) and I now know that skin lesions are often the first sign of some form of renal (kidney) imbalance. I’m pretty sure that my hair loss is another signal that my kidneys need some attention. Perhaps I need to be more aware of my wine intake. However, I turn to knowledge of crystals to understand the problem and help bring balance to my kidneys. I also increase my water intake.

Did you know that a person should drink as many ounces a day of water as their bodily weight? I weigh 115 pounds. That means I need to drink 115 ounces or nearly two gallons of water (wine doesn’t count nor does tea or coffee) a day. If that isn’t a reason to lose weight…

I researched crystals that would sedate and excite kidney chi. After muscle testing the crystals, I learned that the crystals that resonated with my body were those that sedated (grounded) my kidney energy. This indicated to me that my kidneys are hyperactive. I created a gem elixir using a Selenite, Green Calcite, Amethyst and Smokey Quartz in a bottle and within three days, and the massive hair loss I was experiencing stopped. Amazingly I have not had a basal cell issue either. Coincidence? Who can say for sure? What I can say for sure is that my dermatologist or a general practitioner doctor would NOT have been able to connect the dots between my hair loss, kidneys, and skin.

Information is as plentiful as ever. See your doctor but first do some research yourself to provide data to your practitioner that may help guide them to a perfect resolution to those nasty health challenges that are unfortunately a way of life that cannot be avoided.
