Surrender (Originally Published 3/28/2023)


Manifestation is the new intention. Or at least that is what the new age wave of thought is implying. Truth is, the word manifestation’s origins come from a religious/spiritual concept based on the idea that if something spiritual becomes real, it is said to be a manifestation. The power to create is innate to the spirit-being-having-a-human-experience.

 

Create? Hmmm! What can the spirit-being-having-a-human-experience actually create? Anything the mind can conceive and believe can actually be created, so says James Allen, author of one of my life-saving books, As a Man Thinketh. OK. Creation powers of the human being exist. Let’s all agree to that for the sake of argument.

 

Now the question becomes, does one manifest for their human/personality/material self, their spirit/divine self or both? I would suggest that as a spirit-being-having-a-human-experience AND because Earth is a planet of perfect polarity (north/south pole, night/day, hot/cold, love/hate), balancing one's manifestation power between material and spiritual visions would make for a most harmonious existence. So how does one do that?

 

Human manifestation requires no directive from me. Man gets an idea however and adrenaline zaps the idea into existence in time, with the constant pursuit of the idea. Quite simply, when a man's will stands in the way of God's Will – imbalance ensues, and human discomfort follows.

 

How can one decern whether an idea is God’s Will or human will? That is the $64,000 question!

For me, when I hear myself say  “I want” before any statement, I know I’ve just imposed MY will into manifestation energy. Surrendering the personality that fuels the human will is step one in the manifestation power of God’s Will. See if you can relate to the following vignette.

 

Many years ago, when I had grown too big to continue operating my real estate/property management business from my house, I began to search for a building to move into. I fell in love with a big old building with many floors about twenty miles from home and began negotiating the terms of the sale. The seller was a big conglomerate of varying corporations making it difficult to get to the actual decision-maker to present my case.

 

It was three months later, and after much angst and frustration, I finally walked away from the purchase, unable to make a deal that was good for all sides. Two days hence, a friend of mine called and mentioned he saw a building not seven miles from home for sale. It was perfect in every way. Negotiations were completed in five days. God's Will? You decide. The point is I had to fully surrender the first building joyfully and with love in my heart. I remember when the first building didn't happen, I spoke the intention words, "okay God, your Will be done," in an effort to quash the disappointment in my mind and heart.

 

Can you surrender to a power greater than yourself whose design for you is most likely beyond any desire you could ever imagine for yourself? Now some thirty-five years later, I can report that the original building "I wanted" would have been a giant hole I poured money into, as reported to me by the unlucky person who did end up with it. The building I purchased served me well in addition to becoming involved, recognized and honored by the community the building was in.

 

God’s Will? You decide. See if you can surrender the personality/material will when you are in a “want” situation. I promise you that Soul energy is constantly breathing all the inspiration and knowledge you will ever need in perfect timing to serve the material self when the spirit self is also honored.

 

AFFIRMATION:  Not my will, but thine Will be done.
