Subconscious Alerts

Updated: 5 days ago

The other day, I walked outside after a huge storm. The air's essence immediately reminded me of a time when I was a little girl, and a flash of happiness momentarily stirred in my heart. You know, that feeling that resembles the first time you ever kissed or were kissed. The family was on vacation at a cottage on Lake Erie…my first experience with a lake. I now share my life with both Lake St. Clair and the Atlantic Ocean six months at a time. I'm pretty sure I subconsciously decided that I needed to live on the water from that fate-filled Erie time away.

My first "waterfront" house came when I was twenty-eight years old. It was house number three for me but number one as a newly divorced mom. You have to start somewhere in the world of "buy up" real estate, and my new solo purchase was on a canal before I finally made it to the big lake.

The “reminder” lake essence literally reminded me of that youthful commitment/intention I made that guided me to my water digs today. However, the "pop-up" lake essence made me wonder just how many other youthful commitments inform the many patterns I live by today.

Are you with me?

For example, I hate basements. It was my mother’s punishment to send me to the basement when I was naughty, which was frequently.  I haven't had a basement in forty-two years. The last basement I had was constantly infested with crickets. Seems the adjacent, vacant, weedy field was a perfect cricket maternity ward. I hate crickets too.

As a real estate broker, I found myself in many basements…and unhappily so.

Sorry, I can't help myself. I just had to check out cricket symbolism. As a result, I have made a commitment to consciously change my opinion of crickets. I now see many years later that the mystical music of the cricket was to help me: 1) know that anything is possible and 2) stay open to guidance and Soul messaging and take the next steps along my life's path. Ok. The crickets were offering vibrational help. Can I help it that I wasn't alert enough in my subconscious mind to recognize the "anything is possible" message?

I was actually showing the waterfront house I eventually moved to from cricket basement to a prospective buyer when my juices began formulating as to how I could afford a house on the water, and the rest is history. I hope those crickets gone by can forgive me and my exterminator.

The past is and will always be a driving factor in one’s  thoughts and actions because one’s mental and emotional mind-bodies utilize soul-guided, messaging to design the experiences one has over the course of a lifetime.  Choices made looking through  rose-colored lenses become triggers for action to be taken, ideas to become manifest and spiritual DNA to explode in our lives.

Take a subconscious alert you recently had; they are a constant reminder of where the past is leading you and take pause in it. My lake essence/cricket message was light-filled. Not all subconscious alerts are. Whether the subconscious alert is light or shadow-filled (as is the case with the why of me hating basements), give it some adult, mature mental adjustment.

It's so ironic that at this moment in time, I'm working on cleaning out the basement of my 1883 office building so we can sell it. Last week, I dreaded being there because of previous conditioning.   Now, I'm going to stand in that old, creepy basement and give thanks for it being a part of my life. I think I'll even create a place for the next purchasers of that building to fully utilize the historic charm the basement provides.

Use those subconscious alerts to consciously bring about more light-filled release to any shadows of the past.

What else have you got going on anyway that would prevent you from turning past shadows into light-filled memories?

AFFIRMATION: I now see the past as light-filled.
