Physical Illness (Originally Published 7/5/2022)

Physical illness is ALMOST always a sign that inner work is required on some level. The four aspects of the human condition are physical, mental, emotional and spirit well-being. Think of human existence as a four-cylinder machine. Just like a four-cylinder automobile, when one of the cylinders isn’t energetically pulling its weight, the car sputters and stalls.

Illness is a result of one or more operating systems, organs, glands, tissue or cells sputtering/stalling in its performance which drags down the electromagnetic operation of the entire being. The body is designed like a well-oiled machine.

The above truth does not apply to children who were born with cancer, birth defects and mental illness. I believe those spirits struck with childhood illness are on Earth to teach the world those most important aspects of love such as kindness, patience, compassion, self-control, peace and joy.

Recently an eight-year employee of mine was caught stealing money from me. There were vague signs that I was being embezzled, (a “paper congestion” in her office, unusual bills I didn’t question out of trust, even an overdrawn checking account) but it wasn’t until she called in sick with pneumonia that my ears perked up and I began to take a closer look at the checkbooks.

The lungs (the organ that becomes compromised with pneumonia) represent freedom to the entire physical body. Breath taken in and processed by the lungs is the body’s primal contact with the outside world. Each lung affliction such as bronchitis, asthma, lung cancer, etc. are pretty good indicators that something in the mental or emotional realms of one’s world is not in line with one’s truth. When an organ such as the lungs is unable to protect itself from sickness it’s time to look within and work on the affairs of one’s life needing resolution.

In the case of the lungs having become compromised as with pneumonia, where air sacs of the lungs become inflamed and swollen making breathing almost impossible, you can almost be certain that some form of guilt or shame is at work in the mental/emotional mind-bodies. My thieving co-worker was well-loved by all. Her sticky fingers betrayed not only MY checkbook but every other office member who invested a piece of their heart with her being.

My suspicions of the company pilferer were confirmed when I received her pneumonia diagnosis. The pirate was as close to me as any daughter could be. She was well-aware she was being groomed to take over the company upon my retirement. Madam grifter was trusted by me without qualm. Eventually the guilt from her stealing and the shame of betrayal took over not only her lungs but her entire being. Try not being able to breathe!

So is my point here to check your bank statements when those around you have pneumonia? Not hardly! The message here is that when your body is experiencing physical issues to go deeper and look at what untruth your emotional and/or mental minds may be attaching to. What dark emotion might you be feeling? What truth or invasion of the liberty of others you may be promoting? AND THEN CHANGE IT!

As for my lesson – yes, all conflict indicates that both the recipients of the issue, the thief and the one being thieved have a lesson to learn – I was reminded to pay better attention to the bookkeeping end of the business. Small reminders can sometimes come with a big price. I’m just grateful this lesson didn’t require me to have to get a second job to recover from my economic loss.

Have a nagging physical issue? Look for possible root causes. Louise Hay suggests that MS is result of someone’s relationship with their father. Really? Could it be that simple?

Regardless of whether the dis-ease will ever resolve itself on a physical level, delving into emotional and mental barriers to healthy living and transforming them (i.e., grief, shame, fear, untruth) to bring inner peace will get you at least an A+ for effort. Who knows? Maybe the ailment that led you up the path of enlightenment might even dissolve.

As always, the choice is yours.

AFFIRMATION: I release all ______________ (shame, fear, untruth) that my body become whole again.
