Misappropriated Manhood

Most people equate manhood with testosterone, a hormone produced in a man's testes. Testosterone is responsible for many human qualities. For example, in nature, it is usually the male of the species who instinctively protects and provides for his family. Of course, there are always exceptions to this pattern—just ask the mate of the black widow spider.
In the human context, manhood has become synonymous with courage, strength and even the ability to reproduce. Hmmmm. So far, I see no traits listed here that are specific to men. Are there any other traits or conditions that are specifically male? After all, a woman's body also produces testosterone in her ovaries. Yes, even ovaries need a little testosterone for healthy ovarian function. Whodathunk?
So, if testosterone isn't the core ingredient of manhood, what is? From my perspective, a quick study into the Divine Masculine, the "spiritualized testosterone effect," if you will, one may get a clear insight into the truth of manhood. Gender has been such a hot topic lately it’s time to clear this up a little.
To start, the definitions that best describe the Divine Masculine lay right underneath our noses as we think of God, king, warrior, priest, lover and even sage – all descriptions of archetypal roles men have had for centuries and all “doing” type rolls. The Divine Feminine births an idea, and the Divine Masculine takes the idea and makes it manifest. A beautiful description of the Divine Feminine/Divine Masculine balance. Is there a dark side to the feminine/masculine spectrum? Absolutely. However, what separates the Divine Masculine from masculinity in general is that testosterone is used to benefit mankind in all circumstances rather than destroy mankind.
Regardless of one’s gender, every human being carries BOTH aspects of the Divine Feminine/Divine Masculine – evidenced by the female human’s body’s testosterone production. Look it up. This Father’s Day, a day set aside to recognize fathers, one can benefit from setting aside some time to recognize your own Divine Masculine within.
Where have you used priestly or warrior-like energy to benefit mankind? Perhaps you helped those less fortunate than yourself. Kudos! Keep it up. What divine wisdom (priest archetype) have you imparted to the human spirits the Universe has put in your path: store bagger, bank teller or waitress? Congrats, you have just benefitted the human condition through Divine Masculine activity.
Yes, let's celebrate the being who donated his seed so that you could manifest on Earth. To make Father's Day an even greater event for you (why not?), celebrate your Divine Masculine within that is constantly pulsating to help you benefit even the simplest of our species. Donated seeds or not, take the essence of the Divine Masculine to the next level in your life and make Dad proud!
