Minerals and Crystals
The word mineral is a catch-all term for a naturally occurring chemical compound that has a crystalline form. Minerals are a group of atoms bonded together representing the smallest unit of a chemical compound. To be defined as an atomic mineral, the mineral must be organic, naturally occurring, be solid at room temperature, contain a crystal structure and have a defined chemical composition. Atoms are what impact the characteristics and ultimately the behavior of the mineral.

Atoms contain protons, neutrons and electrons. The number of electrons that an atom contains in its outer ring, known as its valence ring, determines that atom’s ability to bond with the atoms of other elements to form minerals. Two atoms of hydrogen (H) and one atom of oxygen (O) bond to create H2O or water through their valence rings.
Minerals are the driving force of all activity that occurs in the human body. Did you know the human body contains 21 minerals that “power up” the body’s 12 organs? Do you know what they are? Did you know the liver performs over 500 chemical functions in the body by taking one substance like protein for example, and converting it into different chemicals other organs use? Below is the list of minerals required by the body to function.
Knowledge of the individual minerals contained in each crystal is helpful when working with crystals. A mineral in the body can be excited, sedated or balanced with the application of complimentary and/or polarizing minerals outside the body. Balanced minerals in the body most often mean a healthier body. Of course, there are ALWAYS exceptions to this statement.
For example, Folate, also known as vitamin B9 is important in red blood cell formation and needed for healthy cell growth. However, if you have MTHFR, a gene mutation disorder, folate will antagonize any or all of the body’s operating systems. Everyone’s body is different due to their unique DNA. Even in the pharmaceutical treatment of disease, what works for one person may not work for a different person with the same ailment.
When using crystals, to balance one’s mineral chemistry, it is imperative to muscle test for each and every crystal individually and collectively if you are combining or gridding crystals.
Catherine’s latest Book, The New Stone Age, Crystal Data for the 21st Century contains ten chapters of information designed to help the novice and intermediate crystologist obtain the secrets to working with crystals to help the four mind-bodies balance chaotic energy.
Crystal healing is the art of bringing the four mind-bodies (physical, mental, emotional and spirit) back into balance. The information above is intended to provide information to the self-healer to sedate, ignite or balance the body’s own healing abilities. This blog is not intended to act as a substitute for medical treatment.
