Keratin and Your Face

For at least the last ten years of my life I have suffered from “whiteheads” on my face. They itch and are unsightly on a face already battling the effects of aging. On a visit to the dermatologist for another issue, I casually asked the doctor what the content of those nasty little white pimples was. She stated “keratin” and gave me samples of a topical to put on my skin to “dry them up.”
Ha! All I got was a dry, even itchier red face. I research everything I write about, but it took me a month after that steroid cream-donation made by the dermatologist to research keratin and I was blown away!
Absolutely every single keratin causing food was on my top 10 go-to food lists. Keratin is a protein the mammal utilizes in producing skin, hair, nails, horns, claws, well you get the picture. My hair is lush, and my nails are long. Why does lush hair and strong nails have to be punished by white pimples for everyone to see?
Here’s the top ten keratin foods that can boost the keratin levels in the body.
· Eggs
· Salmon
· Onions
· Carrots
· Sweet potatoes
· Sunflower seeds
· Mangoes
· Garlic
· Kale
· Beef liver
Except for liver and kale, I eat at least 4 out of the remaining ingredients every single day. No wonder my face is now itchy and red. I am drying up the keratin on the outside of my body with a steroid (man’s cure all for everything) while I’m feeding the perfect foods for my keratin producing body to manufacture keratin on the inside. I have literally created a keratin war within my own electromagnetic orb.
Sheesh!
Well, no more. That’s right. No more onions or eggs – they give me diarrhea anyway. Now I am wondering why I have not been listening to the drugs of my digestive system all along. As for mangoes, sweet potatoes and salmon, asta la vista baby. Garlic…not sure how I can give that up but…
Why didn’t the dermatologist give me a list of keratin causing foods instead of or at least in addition to the skin steroid? Here’s today’s blog point: Take responsibility for your own health!!!!! Sure, visit the doctor BUT do your own research. There’s no excuse these days. Bring your research to the doctor, perhaps you can teach them something new.
No more orange foods for me (isn’t that amazing). Whitehead free face here I come.
