Intention is the product of the mental state of mind that says “I will!” Intentions, when accompanied by an emotional inner strength or belief about oneself, (this can be a light or shadow belief, the universe does not discriminate) ignites a Universal Source intelligence that starts the creation process, including the resources, people and ideas necessary so that the intention will eventually materialize.
Don’t believe me? Your life is nothing but a collection of intentions formulated by affirmations that you mentally, emotionally, physically and/or spiritually designed for yourself. Think back to the last five “events” of your life. Were any of the events things you either wished for or were afraid of? Faith and fear alike can be purveyors of manifested intentions.
An affirmation is a declaration to the world and yourself that something is true about you. Affirmations are useful when you want to overwrite patterns about yourself that you would like to see changed – a statement of the change you wish to see for yourself. I’m reminded of an affirmation I held for myself 20 years ago: “I am thin.” I repeated that affirmation almost every day for five years.
One October in the fifth year of continuing my mantra, “I am thin”, my acupuncturist told me I needed to start eating red meat. I hadn’t eaten red meat in thirty years. The thought was ghastly. In late November I started eating red meat. On December 1, my husband Bill passed away. Four months later I was fifty pounds lighter. Five years of my “I am thin” mantra came to fruition. Was it Bill’s death? The injection of red meat into my system? Simply the intention? We will probably never know. What I do know however, is that a series of events; advice on eating red meat (I since discovered my vegetarian diet of 30 years was too full of carbs for my body type, which was why I couldn’t lose weight) and a sudden death of a family member came together and bingo! Intention accomplished.
The intention was to be thin. The affirmation, the emotional “support arm” to the intention was a clear “I am thin.” Soul eventually converged a series of events so that my intention manifested. I still look in the mirror and hear myself say “I am thin.” And I am. Can’t let go of that affirmation – ever.
If you are not happy about anything in your life right now, I would invite you to examine all of the intention(s) you may have unwittingly made that are connected to your unhappiness. Perhaps you’re in a relationship that no longer conforms to its original purpose or in a job that doesn’t make you smile on your way to work. Statements of affirmation, those that usually begin with “I Am” are most likely the cause. My friend died at 51 years of age of bowel cancer because her favorite mantra was: “I thought I would die when…”
Intentions, are served by affirmation. Affirmations are usually not true when we begin to repeat them. I was 50 pounds overweight when I started repeating to myself, “I am thin.” I was unhappy about my weight. I didn’t have the answer to losing that extra weight but eventually with belief and persistence, my “I am thin” mantra eventually manifested.
The minute we create an intention for our self and WRITE and repeat the supporting affirmation over and over, the universe goes into action to formulate a series of guidance (like my acupuncturist telling me I needed red meat). This will ultimately produce your affirmation in the material world, but only if you listen and follow the signs and guidance that Soul provides along the path.
What are you afraid of? Create your own reality first with a clear intention followed by a conscious “I AM” statement now! Be patient. Change takes time. Oft times the circumstances in which you want to see change didn’t occur over night. Most likely, the change you are seeking will not take place in a nano-second either.
Affirmation: My affirmations manifest in perfect timing with my ability to receive their results.
