Hidden Hunger

Updated: 5 days ago

Often wonder what’s behind food cravings? The answer is simple. Food cravings are a result of the body craving a nutrient that is either already deficient/lacking in the body OR needed by the body to balance an excess of one or more other nutrients. The human body is a plethora of constantly occurring chemical reactions. Respiration (oxygen intake, carbon dioxide release), digestion (it takes thousands of chemical reactions to process from start to finish one forkful of mashed potatoes) to break the foods we eat from their carb or protein forms into absorbable nutrients.

Quora states that there are over one million chemical reactions that occur every second in the body; one hundred thousand per second in just the brain! The body is host to an average of 37.2 trillion cells. Cells are constantly messaging through chemical reactions sparked by minerals to other cells to do certain jobs.

Every function of every cell, tissue, enzyme and organ is fueled by one or more of the elements located on the Periodic Table of Elements.

For example, the simple pecan contains iron, copper, zinc, nickel, manganese and boron. Copper helps the body metabolize iron, process oxygen, help the body form red blood cells and produce enzymes and neurotransmitters imperative for nervous system function and is said to enhance psychic abilities.

And that’s just copper!

The human body’s minimum required elements-to-operate number twenty two. They are

·         Sulfur

·         Hydrogen

·         Oxygen

·         Carbon

·         Nitrogen

·         Calcium

·         Phosphorus

·         Potassium

·         Chlorine

·         Sodium

·         Magnesium

·         Iron

·         Fluorine

·         Copper

·         Zinc

·         Manganese

·         Lithium

·         Iodine

·         Cobalt

·         Chromium

·         Selenium

·         Molybdenum

However, the body can host up to 60 different elements. Scientists have discovered the existence of 118 elements on Earth to date. The body is a bioelectric processor of the frequency that is produced by the elements the body has eaten/been exposed to both necessary and unnecessary.

Optimum health is a result of the balancing act that each and every one of the “Famed 22” elements were designed to produce. One’s DNA is responsible for how the required elements work together; how one’s organs, tissues, cells, and atoms use the atomic elements (copper, magnesium, calcium, etc.) In a perfect world a body hosting perfect DNA would always have perfect health. This is NOT a perfect world. Each body is a product of historically created DNA subjected to the mental, emotional, environmental and physical experiences that are passed down from one’s ancestors producing the extremely unique DNA each human being carries. For example someone carrying DNA from northern Europe will most likely cause one to have an inability to fully process all the vibrational energy from the Sun. Ireland does not receive the intensity of the Sun as let’s say the Caribbean islands. So by nature, someone with strong Irish descent can be more prone to skin cancer if one lives in the southern hemisphere of Earth. The DNA of a Caribbean native provides more of whatever elements are needed to tell the body how to process Sun frequency most efficiently to avoid skin cancers.

The body innately craves certain foods to:

·         balance another element that may be too abundant (and not needed) in the body

·         help increase an element that is needed

·         help face a present emotional, mental or physical challenge

·         synergize or antagonize cellular activity

·         heal overall bodily dysfunction

Before you acquiesce to a body craving, it may be helpful to research a little to see what     the craved food contains, how the craved food interacts in general with the body and what element the body is actually craving. For the first 60 years of my life I craved potato chips. It wasn’t the potatoes so much as the salt on the chips. I had extremely low blood pressure (90/63). My body innately was craving sodium. Sodium, usually attributable to high blood pressure was needed by my body to simply maintain the blood pressure I had. Unfortunately, chips on the lips add weight to the hips. Much healthier alternatives were available to me in foods such as sardines, soy sauce, olives, salami, celery, pickles, etc.to meet my sodium cravings.

When experiencing a consistent food craving take the time to discover what element you are craving and why. Calcium is antagonistic to sodium which means every time I ate foods high in calcium like cheese, almonds, broccoli, oranges and green leafy vegetables to name a few, I was reducing the sodium content in my body. In other words, with each bite of dairy, dried figs, broccoli, almonds or cheese I ate, my body craved more chips to compensate and keep my body operating. There are enough battles in my life outside of my body without contributing to an element war inside my body.

Don’t leave your food decisions up to those hidden hunger urges! Instead, work to understand the big picture of what is actually going on within your bag of bones. Make choices about what you put into the beautifully designed food/element processor we call the human body. If old age is appealing to you, why not have the healthiest old body that your DNA will allow to see you to the end.

The choice is yours!
