I’ve lived where I live in the winter for almost 8 years and have never seen a finch. In the last two weeks, not only has a finch presented itself to me on my deck twice, but on three other occasions, a finch has been in my face. This is the sign of a true totem alert.
Totems are the appearance of a bird, animal, insect, reptile or some other living being that has been sent by a power greater than ourselves as a form of a living text message. Enlightened beings credit this form of messaging as spiritual guidance.
Spiritual or Soul guidance is occurring 24/7 with downloadable data. The more consciously one is aware of totem appearances, the more frequently totems will appear. I can say that my first consciously noted totem appearance was a great blue heron when I was twenty-seven years old. Thank God the heron rears his beautiful stature whenever I’m feeling like a “master of none” to remind me of my jack-of-all-trades, heron archetype.
The Finch, of which there are 200 different species (isn’t Creator source inventive and amazing?), is a relatively small bird, mainly famous for alerting coal miners to carbon monoxide poisoning during the 18th to 20th centuries.
As a totem, the tiny finch comes to warn of possible unbridled joy potential. Additionally, Finch’s presence is baiting me to find beauty in the journey of my life rather than the destination.
