Projection as a Truth

Projection is the act or process of transferring one's own feelings onto another person or object. It is commonly known that bullies ridicule others because they are transferring or projecting their own internal struggles with self-esteem, self-confidence, etc. Projection was a Sigmund Freud concept. Bullies, however, do not have a corner on the art of projection.
Those qualities we all have that are not light-filled (and we ALL have them) are most often projected onto others. I know a woman who is always criticizing the clothes others wear. Truth is, she feels inadequate about her own attire. A man I know criticizes the intelligence of almost any person he meets. Smart himself, he feels inadequate intellectually, and so he projects his inadequacies regarding intelligence onto others.
Feelings of inadequacy—hmmmm? Who doesn't have those? What if every time one had a projection thought, action or word, a little bell went off in one's head, followed by a short dialogue that informed the inner part of us that is seeking revelation of the truth of who we are?
Well, look no further. Self-diagnosis of using projection because of one's own inadequacies can easily be diagnosed. One needs only listen to themselves. Any statement that is not filled with love, kindness, compassion, joy etc., is a red alert that some inadequacy is looming; some growth or change is needed. To be willing to face one's dark side, that is, to accept one's imperfections is one of the greatest inner challenges in life. Accepting those "undesirable" traits that lurk within is the first step to being more light-filled.
I'm bossy. For years, I was criticized for being so. I would deny that statement about myself whenever I heard it. Then I discovered that the astrological sign of Leo (which I was born under) IS bossy. So, I claimed that trait. Of course, I was always critical of those in charge. I projected my own truth, that I am bossy, onto other bosses, criticizing any bosses that crossed my path.
Bosses are needed! Once I accepted my truth, I was then able to learn how to temper and control my bossiness. Like everything, there's a time and a place for bossiness. I pray before I die that I will have added compassion, fairness, kindness and acquiescence to my bossy, energetic force.
I invite you to look around your world and see where you may be hypercritical or judgmental. When you find this mental flaw of thought, technically, you have just struck gold in the realm of self-knowledge. Embrace the inadequate trait you see in others that you don't like and seek to consciously apply new truths to your thoughts about yourself.
Growth. The only constant on Earth. Get in the flow.
AFFIRMATION: I accept the challenge now to face my dark side.
